24 Hour 8 Ball Challenge

It all started one evening when I had a cunning plan . . . A plan so cunning you could brush your teeth with it…. Pool + 24hrs = Miss Q’s first ever 24hr Pool Challenge! Jane and I played around with the idea and thought surely there would be someone out there who would be interested in playing so we put the call out and the response we received was massive, 16 people were crazy enough to join us on our 24hr attempt and this is what happened.

After going through all of the rules, scoresheets and giving out the team shirts it was 2:30miss qs 24 hour challengepm and we were all ready to go. We kicked off the challenge with a double and singles knockout. Matt Vincent and Bulldog won the doubles knockout and Fozzie won the singles competition with a 5 nil win. Congrats guys.

Following that was a nine ball knockout comp which our youngest player Kyle Van Zon took out top position. Also our next youngest player Brittany Treford now holds the Miss Q’s 24hr Pool Challenge record for most wins at nine ball by potting the nine ball of the break.

Several other smaller games followed the knockout comps; killer pool, football, 5c game, ultimate knockout, high and low challenge tables, speed ball and a lot of individual free play. Shannon Ellis won killer pool and football with partner Bulldog, the ultimate knockout was won by Damien Stenhouse. Cameron Fox had won the most games on the lower challenge table, Bulldog had won the most games on the high challenge table and also managed to brilliantly take out the 5c game challenge.

Whilst all of these games were being played we had the players tally the amount of balls they potted as well as how many games they played. By the end of the 24hrs as a team we had potted over 16,000 balls and played over 1700 games. Individually we had two particularly dedicated players Jimmi Homewood and Andrew Boyd they battled it out to see who could pot the most balls and play the most games. Jimmi potted the most balls with a huge total of 3,305 balls and Andrew played a massive 292 games. These guys now hold those scores as the current records. A special thanks to Andrew & Dominos Pizza for sponsoring the Dinner for the challenge.

Overall the challenge was an awesome event, I’d like to thank everyone who participated you guys were great and definitely dedicated to the game. I’d like to personally thank Janey for which with out her none of this would have happened, not only did she lose sleep over scoresheet nightmares she also put together all of the rules, organised all of the games and helped me with anything I had trouble with, Janey you’re a Gem. Also I’d like to thank Shannon Ellis for which breakfast would not have been served if it wasn’t for him using his brand new BBQ for the first time to cook it for us. And of course Kez and Azza with out you guys supporting us the challenge wouldn’t have been as successful as it was.
