Foundation Day Cup 2009

June 1st saw Pool Players from far & wide attend the 2009 Miss Q's Foundation Day Cup. With a star studded field of competitors from, Geraldton, Kalgoolie, Perth & the Peel region, 42 players went head to head in a brilliant display of top level 8ball match play.

The day began with the player auction, providing some fierce bidding on some of the well known players, accumulating a massive $1650 pool of cash for the Calcutta alone.

Juniors, Ladies & Men all competed for the $1000 competition prize pool, seeing young Luke Anglesey, age 15, take some serious scalps over the course of the day to place 4th & collect $52.50 & the top placed Junior trophy.

Peter Raines bought Luke & scored $148.50 from the calcutta prize pool.

Rebecca Eves was in great form showing the blokes a thing or two about the art of a technical game of 8Ball, getting through 6 rounds before being knocked out, placing as the top Lady for the day.

Sam Gilkison turned several heads & took plenty of top names out of the competition before being nailed by the eventual tournament champ leaving him in 3rd spot & collecting a sweet $105.00 for his efforts.

Shakeel Latimer purchased Sam & won $222.75 from the Calcutta. Levi Congdon was in fine form going through the entire tournament to the Grand Final undefeated displaying some of the nicest pot out's of the day.

Levi met one of Australia's finest cueist's Ron Kelly in the Grand & these two young men went game for game showing the audience some of the most beautiful potting & tactical match play seen at Miss Q's. Ron’s patience & skill paid off in the end beating Levi 5 - 4.

Levi took home $262.50 & Ron $577.50. Darren Morris purchase Levi & won $371.25 for his Calcutta bidding efforts & that lucky man Peter Raines smartly bought Ron & won $742.50 for his cleverness.
