  • Hi all Az again, reporting on yet another "Gosnells Challenge" The Gosnells team showed up on time & in a Bus their team heavily populated with pool players of the Female variety (Go the Girls!) their goal, to leave with OUR trophy. This time the stakes were higher, it was on our home turf, where I might add, we had never lost a challenge against Gossies, (Virgin soil?)Until now!

    Gossies Boss Man Antonio &
Miss Q’s Chick In Charge Kez

Gossies ever intent on giving us the whipping we so richly deserved after having dominated the challenge for the past couple of years, especially at our own venue. Gossies came out firing from the first round beating Miss Q’s 12 frames to 8 and didn’t let up for a minute, the end of the first set, 60 frames, saw Gossies with a healthy lead 10 games ahead. 3 more rounds came & went another 60 frames later Miss Q’s had held their own but made no ground against the G Team, helpless against the onslaught from the Gossies (Girls!) & boys, score 65-G to M-55.

Mandurah (Boys!) & girls unable to find the "G" spot required to bring Gossies to their knees went down again in the 3rd but left the G team wanting, score 103-G to 77-M. As the 4th set came to a grinding halt, the climax went in "The G Teams" favour taking our pride with them, (and our trophy) Gossies with 140 notches on their belt Vs Miss Q’s 110.

Andy Breen Taking a ShotPeter Christie Concentrating hard

Andy Brean proved the hardest to beat on the day, taking man of the match for the "G Team" after beating Miss Q’s Peter Christie in a play off for the title. So smiling & satisfied Gossies boarded the bus and drove off into the sunset leaving the Miss Q’s Challenge team in dismay, trophyless and feeling violated, yet determined to level the score next time in Gosnells. And they all lived happily ever after. (Till next time.) Meanwhile back at the ranch, preparation begins for the Billy Westerns Challenge with the qualifier being held @ Miss Q’s on Saturday 4th October @ 7pm calling all Hired Guns & leaguies to present for selection to Posse duty. • Gossies Challenge July 2008

On Sunday June 29th twenty of Miss Q’s finest headed to Gosnells Pot Black to claim yet another away win and once again secure our trophy and bragging rights over Gossies.

It was the strongest all round team that Miss Q’s had fielded yet against the Gosnells team and as it turned out they were expecting us. To my surprise the Gossies team was by far the toughest side we’ve had to face yet, so with two full sides of strong, competent hitters we got down to some match play.

The opening rounds saw some heavy losses on both sides with much talk happening around the tables about which side might be in front, this was gonna be close. After 60 frames of tough match play there was less than a 10 frame lead in Miss Q’s favour.

At the half way mark the lead in our favour was even closer and it was time for a big push and a strong finish, so that’s what we did. Heres how close it was after 12 rounds a total of 240 frames there was only 22 frames the difference Miss Q's WINS! YAY, The top Scorer of the day was Dave Barker from Gossies with 11 wins Ivan Vudrag also a Gossie 10 wins, with our own Jimmi Homewood the highest scorer of the day for Miss Q's also with 10 wins, Bulldog & Stenhouse with 9 wins a piece.

So with our trophy in hand we all boarded the bus for one last ride in “Nancy” and with Shandy Ellis at the wheel returned home victorious once again. Congrats to all who played gossies come to us next time check our website for qualifying dates if you want to be part of the next Gossies Challenge.

  • Gossies Challenge March 2008

It was time again for the Gozzie team to come down and take us on. Only this time we needed to get that trophy back after they took it from us when we were the there last. So we wanted and needed the best of the best and the call was put out. We had the qualifying round on Sunday the 2nd of March which we had a knockout competition to see who the 20 players would be. After a fun day of some very close games Ben Dougherty ended up being the champion of the qualifying round.

The week went quick and it was time for the challenge. I went up to get my Gozzie crew who were just as eager to keep the trophy in there possession. We finally arrived at Miss Q’s after and hour of traveling with some very loud men, but I must say at least I got them all here in one piece.

We all warmed up with a few friendly matches and then it was on. Kerry asked us all to rack up the balls ready for the challenge. Then quietly Antonio said that if the Gozzie team won three rounds in a row he would wax his chest. Well I couldn’t keep it quiet as I was going to take the first stripe of hair off, so I had to tell Kez. Of Course it was announced on the microphone and now everyone knew and the Gozzie boys had to reasons to win. After the first round Mandurah had taken the lead by two points with round one score being Mandurah 11 and Gozzies 9. Well I really wanted to see Antonio have his chest waxed so I started to get the crew from Gozzies to concentrate on their game. Well this didn’t work as both rounds 2 and 3 one again was Mandurah 11 and Gozzies 9.

This then gave Mandurah a 6 point lead. Round 4 and 5 came and the Mandurah dropped their game a little and it was an even round at 10 a piece. Then Gozzie crew thought that this would be the turn around and they would start to win, well I think we got a little cocky as in round 6 Mandurah being true to form won that round with 14 points and Gozzie with 6. Gozzies realized they had to do something and quick as there would only be 3 rounds left and all ready Mandurah was in the lead by 14 points. So in round 7 we played hard and the games were getting closer and closer and finally we took a round, just. Gozzies won that round 11 to 9 but unfortunately it wouldn’t last as in round 8 it once again was a tie with 10 a piece. We had to do something drastic in the final round as Mandurah was in the lead by 12 points, we needed to win 17 points to take out the challenge over all, so with a few GOZZIE, GOZZIE, GOZZIE’s we played to our best, but it didn’t happen, we won that round but only got 11 games.

So after a very fun filled day Miss Q’s took the trophy back winning the day 95 to 85. Then it came time to find out who was the best of the best for the day, and how weird is this, all the player numbers are just handed out at random and yet both Mandurah and Gozzie players 20 & 2 had each won 8 games each, so it was time for a four way play off. So with Ben and Jimmy from Mandurah and Andy and Dave from Gosnells playing the hardest games they had played all day, Gosnells came out on top for the individuals with Andy coming second and Dave being the Champion for the day. It was getting late and the food had came and gone, in which we must thank Dominos Pizza for helping us out with the extremely large order, and it was time to go. After a few happy snaps from Kez I drove the crew back to Gosnells and they are already plotting to get the trophy back when the Miss Q’s come to Gosnells and try to defend there win.

Well until the next challenge take and easy and play hard. By Janey - Miss Q’s traitor :-)

  • Gossies Challenge December 2007

Well it was that time again when Gosnell’s Pot Black Versus us, Miss Qs. Like last time we held a qualifying round on Saturday 24th to find out which of Miss Qs finest would be taking on the challenge to keep the trophy here.

    gossies december 07

The Sunday 2nd of December rolled around with everyone turning up to Miss Qs bright and early ready to board “Nancy”. After the long trip to Gozzie’s, well it seemed long as everyone followed the rules of no drinking and smoking on the bus, we arrived and were ready with cues in hand to defend our 5 in a row win.

We started off very well with Round 1 being 11-9 our way and everyone getting a bit more confident we would be taking the trophy home. Then round 2, 14-6 once again our way, we were starting to annihilate them. Well what can I say, Round 3 came around and some were getting a bit excited as we only took only 7 games that round and Gozzie’s took a massive 13. Then with rounds 4 and 5 we were slipping with Round 4 being Gozzie’s 13 – us 7 and Round 5 Gozzie’s 11 – us 9. By Round 6 we realized we need to do something and quick, in which we managed to draw in Round 6, 10 a piece. We still kept our hopes up and with everyone cheering each other on we managed to beat them in Round 7, just with 11-9. Round 8, 9, 10, well what can I say, they were very close games but each time the Gozzie’s took the rounds 11 – 9.

The time came for the final round, some of us were hoping to take this round, but we weren’t sure if that was the alcohol talking as Antonio - one of Gozzie’s owners – had some very good specials on Jacks and some of us weren’t passing up on that, well we certainly tried but it was a draw, 10-10. So with all 11 rounds over, 220 games played and the final score was in, Mandurah won 106 games and unfortunately Gozzie’s won 114.

    gossies december 07

Despite our loss, fun was certainly had by all, and I must say, some of the games were close. Congratulations Gozzie’s. Another congratulation goes to Peter Christie who won the most games with 8 out of 11. A huge effort Peter and once again congrats. A big thank you goes to all involved in setting up the challenge and to all of the players who came with us and made the day a huge absolute blast!

Well until next time, we hope to see you all down here to take on the Gozzie’s team and claim out trophy back!

TWENTY OF THE BEST, THEY SENT TO US IT WAS GOSNELLS TURN TO BOARD 'NANCY', THE BUS MANDURAH BOUND, THE TROPHY THE ATTRACTION BUT THE MISS Q’S CREW, WERE READY FOR ACTION!

    By Jacki Connor

    jackie and barry

That’s right folks, the date was set and it was that time again, the Gossies challenge. And what a challenge it would turn out to be!

So back a week, to Sunday the 16th September and those that wanted to try their hand to qualify for the Mandurah team, headed down to Miss Q’s in the afternoon, cues and skills at hand. A great turn out once again and some fantastic games played. Great to see some fresh faces as well as the usual suspects, trying out for what lay a week ahead. A fantastic result in particular to young Kyle Van Zon, definitely one for you all to look out for in the near future! Congratulations to our very own Azza, for coming out on top at the end of the day, and of course to all the ladies and gents that made it to the the team. So then there were twenty, Mandurah’s finest, ready and eager.

Roll on Sunday 23rd! And what a beautiful morning it was. The sun was shining, the birds were singing….... Well actually it was freezing cold, the wind was blowing and it was trying very hard to rain. But that didn’t dampen our spirits. And so once again we arrived at Miss Q’s where we all had a bit of practice while we waited eagerly for ‘Nancy’ the purple bus to arrive with the equally keen Gosnells team.

And so they came, and it began, with the gossies team putting the very first win on the board for the day. At the end of the first round, the score was Mandurah 11 - Gossies 9, putting Mandurah ahead by two games. The players settled in and the nerves died down a bit as we went head to head, game after game. Round 2 saw a draw, leaving Mandurah still ahead.

It was great to see (and hear) all the supporters cheering their teams on for moral support. And so we battled on, with round 3 being even again. Mandurah – 10 Gosnells – 10. This was fast turning into one of the most exciting Gossies/Mandurah Challenges seen yet. Round 4 was completed, again the scores for the round even. Then came round 5, Mandurah – 10 Gosnells – 10. Never had we seen a challenge turn out this close!

    jackie and barry

So we cheered and we screamed, "C’mon Miss Q’s". and it came right back at us, "C’mon Gossies". The air was electric with the excitement!

Finally in round 6, seen Gossies have a break and win the round, 11 games to Mandurah 9. They were dead even, still with three rounds to go!!

Gossies managed to round 7, Gossies – 11 Mandurah – 9, putting the Gossies team in the lead for the first time in the day. Poor Kerry could hardly contain herself as the scores came in for round 8. Mandurah – 11 Gossies – 9. And so once again it was a dead heat, leaving the last and final round for the battle for the challenge trophy to be decided.

We could hardly hear the juke-box or poor Kerry’s announcements as everyone was screaming and cheering for their teams and team-mates! And so it went, game for game, until the final scores came in…… But Kerry (being Kerry!) Kept the score to herself as all the players And supporters were treated to a fantastic supper, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Afterward it was time for the photo shoot, so we all piled outside as the weather gave us a break, and took our places in front of ‘Nancy’ for the happy snaps.

Then we waited with anticipation for the final round to be announced. The score……… Mandurah – 12 Gossies – 8. Once again Mandurah had claimed the trophy! But not without one hell of a fight! I’m sure I speak for both teams in saying that it was a fantastic competition and everyone involved in both teams should be congratulated on their fine efforts. All in all, what a great day, with many thanks to be had. Firstly, to Kerry, Azza and the Miss Q’s crew for putting on a fantastic day and making sure that things ran smoothly and that Miss Q’s was looking its finest (as usual.)

    jackie and barry

Huge thanks go out to the Gossies team for the fantastic effort put in by each and every one of you in making this the closest and best challenge so far. Fine people fine sports.

But there can be only one winner……. Congratulations to the brilliant Miss Q’s team. Once again – We are the champions!!

Check out some of the magnificent photos and I’m sure you’ll see how much everyone enjoyed themselves on the day. UNTIL NEXT TIME GOSSIES!!!!!!

  • Gossies Challenge June 10th 2007

The Challange was cast, it was that time again The title, the trophy, Miss Q's to defend Round Robin on a Sunday the team was decided Final Preperations made, we were all so excited So with Shayne as the driver we were Gosnells bound And the Wheels on the bus went round and round!-

    Jackie

Hello everyone, I’m Jasmine Peters, I’m a leaguie at Miss Q’s. Have been now for about 5 months and just recently for my first time played with the crew down at Miss Q’s in the Gosnells Challenge! So for the next few paragraphs you will be reading in my own words how very exciting the Gosnells Challenge was, oh it was so Good!!

    gossies June 07

It all started on Sun 3/6/07, it was a lovely day! We all met at Miss Q’s for the qualifying Knock out Comp. I feel I need to mention every one of our very talented pool players at Miss Q’s that joined in & made the team: Wayne C, Shannon E, Matt J, Aaron D (Fozzie), Jimmy S, Andrew B, Damien S, Shayne D, Jacki C, Lee K, Josh H, Rollo M, Cara C, Jarrad P, Micheal W, Tegan E, Jamie M, Aaron G, Jasmine P (that’s me), Alyce K.

A special mention to the top three players of the day, Jimmy S 3rd , Damien S 2nd place and Shannon E 1st place good work guys.

The atmosphere at Miss Q’s was just full of excitement and fun and the jukebox in the back ground just made the day so enjoyable. At the end of the day we were all so excited about the next weekend when we compete against the Gosnells team. Then came the big day on Sun 10/06/07, everyone met up at Miss Q’s about 11.30 and we all had a practice game to get into the swing of things and the fun had already started.

There were two guys that turned up with the same blue fiery shirt on that was very out of the blue!! But looked really cool (I still think they organized it). Then it was time to make the exciting bus trip, so we all piled on, everyone still looking half asleep, but us 4 girls Alyce, Cara, Jacki and Me that got the back seat were amazingly the loudest on the bus hehe. On the way the girls kept everyone awake with their singing and games on the bus.

    gossies June 07

We arrived. We all then had a practice game on the tables then got straight into the comp. It was very different at Gosnells the tables were all different sizes and colours. There were even tables that had neon lights and marble balls, very different than Miss Q’s so it was a good challenge for us. All day long Gossies were screaming out GO GOSSIES and Miss Q’s were screaming out GO MISS Q’S, it was very competitive on who could scream the loudest and I feel that medal should go to Kerry, she was screaming the loudest all day long keeping us on our toes.

After the first full round of games they yelled out the total scores at that time and Miss Q’s were in front, Gossies were going to have a hard time catching up to us, we were all on fire. At this point in the comp I was so excited I had won 2 games in a row, I couldn’t believe it. This being my first ever comp out of Miss Q’s and it being the Gosnells Challenge I was very proud of myself. I didn’t think I was going to win any.

Miss Q’s being a big huge happy family, we all got along so well, supporting each other and having a ball. So close to the end with one more round to go Miss Q’s were still in front by a lot of points, it was going to be hard for the Gossies to catch up now. But I had not won a game since the first two games I won at the start. With nearly every game I played I got down to the black ball and could have won heaps, but when I potted the black ball I’d pot the white ball in the same pocket or another one on the table NOT HAPPY JAN.

But that’s where everyone that played for Miss Q’s that day played so very well, I was just there for my good looks and with the best chalk holder in whole room!!! At the end of the day and with all the games finished we had an afternoon brunch which was redrooster chicken and chips and everyone was that hungry the food didn’t stay on the table for long.

The total scores were in, but first I have to mention and pay a great congratulations to our top three players at Miss Q’s which were SHANNON, SHANE (bus driver man) and WAYNE, these three guys came out today with a total of 10 wins out of 11.

    gossies June 07

Now down to the best part of the day, the scores Gossies came out with a total of 61 points good work gossies, but the Miss Q’s team were just to good! We ended up leaving with a grand total of ‘99’ points and left again with the trophy.

We were now close to the end of the day and it was time to go home. We said our good byes, hugs n kisses, well for the guys a shake of the hand or two, and we all pilled back onto the bus. The girls and guys fought over the back seat, all piling in together. There were about 18 people on the bus at least half of us had a few drinks at Gossies, there was singing involved, cameras, lets just say lots of fun! When we got back to Miss Q’s we had a big Gosnells Challenge Team photo with the winning trophy.

To make the day even more fun we had an adults photo session but I think the details can be left out for that one.. But over all a very very good day for the Miss Q’s team……GO MISS Q’S

  • Gossies Challenge February 25th 2007

Some may think... there would be nothing worse than being cooped up with over 40 other people in a pool hall on a Summer Sunday afternoon, but I can assure you braving the heat for the Quarterly Gossies Clash, held on the 25th Feb, was definitely worth it. This was the first Gossies Clash I have witnessed and before anything else I would just like to say ‘what a great atmosphere the place had’, everyone was there to have a good time and that they did!

The Pot Black Gossies team came to Miss Q’s, Mandurah for the interclub challenge, the Miss Q’s team triumphed with final score of 111 to Gosnells’ 59.

Game play was fantastic; everyone played really well, especially the junior assassins from Gosnells. I know I took pleasure in seeing some of the Miss Q’s veterans get flogged by people less than half their age & size, sorry guys, but these kids definitely know their game! Porky, Dicko, Ben and Dave were Gossies top four players, winning 6/9. Well done to Sean, Jimmy, Jarred and Aaron who were Miss Q’s top four winning 8/9.

The Gosnells Boys definitely won the cheering war for the day, although it was great to see the Miss Q’s cheerleaders there with their pompoms providing a bit of entertainment and encouragement for the Mandurah team.

In the lead up to the Clash, Miss Q’s ran a knock out comp to qualify their challenge team, as everyone was so eager for a go! 15 players secured their spots, including Miss Q’s Newbie Jimmy Stewart winning the comp and Premier’s very own Sasha Fenwick coming in close behind. Well done to both players; Miss Q’s best boy and girl!

All in all, it was a great day, I’m looking forward to the next Clash in 3 months time. Congratulations to everyone on the Miss Q’s team and I wish all the best to the Gossies Team, better luck next time guys!

  • Gossies Challenge February 12th 2006

Once again the epic battle between the Mandurah Night Warriors and Gossies and the 40 Thieves took place on the 12th of February at the battle field of Miss Q’s Mandurah. 20 of the bravest war lords of each came to a clash for a gruelling 4 ½ hours with lite snack of tea and bickies.

A blistering 139 matches where fought out before Gossies 40 thieves laid down their cues and accepted their defeat. The mighty Mandurah Night Warriors had once again rained victorious sending the Gossies 40 thieves cowering with their tails between their legs.

The Final blow was delivered by Ben from Gosnells defeated Colin of Mandurah, as the best of the best went to head in a better of 3 game annihilation. Ben came superior over Colin with a convincing 2 to 1 defeat.

The remainder of the surviving war lords came together to battle it out in what is known as the Blonks comp so pre-ordained by the gods. Many battles were fought although, delaying the inevitable once again the Mighty Mandurah Nights were undefeated with our three bravest warriors, Jamie Heard, Paul Bennett and N8O taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

The entire battle was orchestrated by our stunning goddess Jane Parkinson- Jose with the goddess’s court jester, Antonio from Gosnells at her side.

Our biggest commandments go out to the stunning Renee, Clint and Kerry for attending to the wounded and keeping all war lords refreshed with their unbeatable food and beverages, Tune in next time for the results of the epic battles to follow….

On the September 11th Miss Q’s once again travelled to Gosnells for our Inter Poolroom challenge. With 21 of our finest players psyched up and ready to kick arse they were all confident that the tables would be turned and we’d actually beat them in their own venue.

To start with it was really close chopping and changing for around an hour, then unfortunately they started to pull away and we couldn’t catch them.

In the end Gosnells beat us 78-32, yeah we got a flogging! Throughout the day there was only one player who didn’t lose a game, this excellent female by the name of Ros was apart of the Gosnells team, even after the competition she still couldn’t lose.

So guys and girls don’t forget its Gosnells turn to come here in November, so come down one and all and help us win OUR trophy back.

Hey Everyone, just here to gloat about Mandurah’s 2nd win to Gosnells hehe and wow what an afternoon it was! Our very own Mandurah leaguies and friends played like pool sharks with our magnificent 13 point win. It was great to see everyone so enthusiastic (especially on a Sunday!) and give it their best shot.

The score was pretty even throughout the whole day and no one had a clue who was winning until the final score was read out. It ended up being 72-59, so it was a full day of Gosnells butt kicking!!!

All the staff at Miss Q’s would like to thank everyone that participated in the event. A special congrats to the undefeated players of the day Cameron Hill, Maureen Raffaele and Ross Neville. Well done guys!

For anyone who missed out on the Miss Q’s vs Gosnells comp, don’t miss the next one in 5-6 weeks. We need to keep the trophy in Mandurah, so join in on the fun.

Once again a special thank you to all who played and we can’t forget our cheering squad!! We couldn’t done this successful day without you all. If anyone has any enquiries, Tez is your man or Loz and Jane are your chicks in charge!
